Some ask, “What is Leadership?” Well in the dictionary it states that leadership is the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group. Which to my belief that is a great definition. A leader is suppose to guide a group, but what the definition is missing is this idea of guiding or directing a group toward the right solution and to a greater well being, not leading them into the black hole and to a dismay. In organizations, I’ve noticed that people elected to certain postions are the ones that are “popular” and that even goes on a individual level where you are being a role model or leader to one person that looks up to you. It’s not a popularity contest where you like this person better so vote for them for a position that they want but may not be the best candidate for any postion. It’s about someone that is going to do the right thing, take the organization and the people in it to the next level, make necessary changes no matter others think because you know its right and that if the changes aren’t done, it’s your ass. People that you elect because you like them are the ones that are going to have your organization look like shit, possibly get it removed and you are the one that is doing the time, not the people that have done it…so when you’re in that leadership position, be a hard ass, do what’s necessary, and discipline the ones that do wrong.
